Third alongside Team Metiss at the 24 hours of Le Mans
A story of enthusiasts
When motorcycle enthusiasts meet 3D printing enthusiasts, innovation and technicality are the key words on the starting line. A meeting made possible thanks to ID4Car, a reference hub for the vehicles and mobility sectors in the West.
The R&D teams of the French METISS team have been designing endurance motorcycle prototypes since 2005; motorcycles designed and continuously optimized around an engine and an electronic system.
3D printing, at the gates of the latest innovations
THIRD and 3D printing have opened up a whole new world of possibilities in the creation and improvement of technical parts. The criteria of resistance to heat, vibrations or shocks were part of the specifications and guided the choice of materials.
FDM (wire deposition) and MJF (multi jet fusion) technologies were selected to meet this demand for around 20 parts spread over 8 models (air sleeves, battery box, ABS support, etc.).
The first tests with these new parts were carried out on March 8 and 9. The next goal is now very close and significant: the 24 hours of Le Mans in the “Experimental” category on April 18 and 19.
An event that the THIRD teams will follow with particular attention!
